Summer Camping at My Spot at Find A Way Farm
Summer has arrived in the hills of Southeast Ohio, and we'd like to share a few tips to help make your stay at "My Spot" at Find A Way Farm as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
The first recommendation is simple: bring plenty of drinking water and stay hydrated. Summer temperatures can climb quickly, especially when exploring the open pastures. One of the advantages of our campsite is access to the farm pond, where you're welcome to cool off with a swim during the day or evening.
A tarp or shade canopy is another item worth bringing. While the campsite is shaded by mature trees and is often noticeably cooler than the surrounding pastures, a tarp provides additional protection from the sun and those occasional summer rain showers.
Be sure to pack insect repellent, sunscreen, and a flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries. Even during the summer, evenings can cool off under the tree canopy, so a light jacket or sweatshirt is often appreciated around the campfire.
Ticks are a normal part of rural life, and we recommend a quick tick check at the end of each day, especially if you've spent time in taller grass or brush. Our trails are maintained throughout the season to make hiking easier and help reduce contact with ticks.
If your group is bringing multiple tents, take a few minutes to explore the campsite area when you arrive. Several level locations are available, and you may find additional spots that work well for larger groups.
A few items we recommend bringing:
• Paper towels
• Duct tape for quick repairs
• A cooler with plenty of ice
• A tarp or shade canopy
• Flashlights and extra batteries
One of our favorite summer activities is stargazing from the ridge above the campsite. Many of our guests come from urban and suburban areas where city lights make it difficult to see the night sky. On a clear evening, the ridge offers excellent views of the stars and planets. We created a trail leading directly from the campsite to the ridge and will be happy to show you the way when you arrive.
While you're here, you may encounter deer, wild turkeys, songbirds, frogs, and other wildlife. Observing nature is one of the special parts of the farm experience and one of the reasons many guests choose to visit.
Our goal is simple: to provide a quiet, private place where you can unplug, relax, and enjoy nature. Unlike many campgrounds, you'll have the entire campsite area to yourself, allowing you to enjoy the woods, pond, and trails in complete privacy.
Whether you're here for hiking, swimming, photography, stargazing, or simply relaxing around the campfire, we hope you'll leave feeling refreshed and recharged.
We look forward to hosting you and hope you have a wonderful stay at Find A Way Farm this summer.
